GOSPORT, United Kingdom, June 12, 2026: Boeing [NYSE: BA] today joined supplier StandardAero to open the Boeing‑sponsored mobile Newton Room in Gosport. Developed and administered by non‑profit FIRST Scandinavia, the mobile Newton Room is an aviation‑themed classroom providing hands‑on workshops for local students which has generated bookings that reflect a strong level of community interest and engagement.

Over the coming fortnight, with support from StandardAero — the largest supplier to Boeing Defence UK’s Rotary Wing Enterprise contract — students will engage with flight simulators and mission‑planning activities designed to spark curiosity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), and to highlight career pathways in aerospace and aviation maintenance.

The newest deployment of the mobile Newton Room highlights Boeing’s long-term investment in the communities where its employees live and work.  South Hampshire College Group supplied the teaching team for the two-week residency, while StandardAero’s Early Careers team leveraged its local school network to book sessions that currently will welcome close to 100 schoolchildren.

"Boeing is proud to collaborate with key suppliers like StandardAero to inspire the next generation of local engineers and technicians," said Jeremy Quin, President, Boeing UK & Ireland. "Our long-standing presence in Gosport — supporting Chinook sustainment, engineering, supply chain and project management — underpins that commitment, creating apprenticeship and career pathways that strengthen the local skills base and deliver long-term value to the UK aerospace sector."

Under Boeing Defence UK’s Rotary Wing Enterprise contract, StandardAero provides maintenance support of the RAF’s Chinook force, in addition to hosting one the UK’s major engine repair facilities for business aviation customers.  StandardAero also is growing its UK apprenticeship opportunities to meet the future demand for high-value aerospace skills.

Simon Jones, managing director UK, StandardAero said: “We are proud to host the Mobile Newton Room on our UK site in Gosport and give young people a unique and hands-on opportunity to explore the aviation sector.  Working closely with Boeing, First Scandinavia and our local schools’ network, we will engage as many students as possible with a single goal – inspiring the next generation to pursue a career in aviation, including the StandardAero apprenticeship program.”

How the mobile Newton Room works:

  • Mobile classroom equipped with flight simulators and hands‑on modules
  • Aviation‑themed lessons challenge students to plan rescue missions, solve engineering problems and apply maths and science in real‑world scenarios
  • Programmes are delivered with local partners and tailored to school groups and public audiences

“After our installation in Weston-super-Mare in 2024 we are pleased to bring the mobile Newton Room back to England, this time to StandardAero in Gosport, said Per-Arild Konradsen, CEO and founder of FIRST Scandinavia. “Together with Boeing and StandardAero, we look forward to giving students in Gosport an inspiring Newton learning experience.”

In 2025, the Newton Room programme engaged more than 21,000 students worldwide.
