Boeing 787 Dream Tour Day 2: Manchester
April 25, 2012 - The Boeing 787 Dreamliner landed at Manchester airport in the evening of 22 April, when around 100 committed plane spotters had been waiting in the cold and dark for hours to see the landing.
On April 23, 2012, the Dreamliner took off from Manchester at 11:30 for a demonstration flight with Thomson and returned at 13:00. A huge crowd of over 10,000 enthusiasts gathered at the airport’s Runway Visitor Park to welcome the aircraft and cheer during take-off and landing. Some had arrived as early as 08:00 after news spread that the Dreamliner would be on its way.
The Dreamliner had spent the previous day at Heathrow Airport where it was presented to UK airline customers - Thomson Airways, Virgin Atlantic and British Airways – and 13 UK suppliers and partners.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is set to be a regular visitor to Manchester from May 2013. Thomson will be the first UK airline to fly the Boeing 787, taking passengers from the North West to Florida and Mexico.
