Over the past two years The Boeing Company Ltd has been undertaking an extensive programme of regional 787 community awareness roadshows at airports throughout the UK.
These roadshows are an opportunity for stakeholders in the immediate vicinities of regional airports to learn more about how the 787 will affect them when it begins service in the UK.
They feature multimedia presentations that illustrate the major innovations that this next generation of long-haul commercial aircraft will bring including exceptional environmental performance in terms of fuel efficiency, noise footprint and engine emissions. With sustainability being at the forefront of the 787, it will be capable of operating from the majority of the UK’s airport’s existing facilities and its longer range in turn enables an increased number of long-haul point-to-point flights.
Typically the audience attending includes MPs, local Councillors, consultative committees, airline representatives, airport staff, unions, RDAs and the local media.
To date, the 787 Community Awareness Roadshows have visited:
- Edinburgh
- Birmingham
- Luton
- Gatwick
- Manchester
- Glasgow
